Publishers are Providing Lower Cost Options with Digital Formats and Learning Solutions

Rent Digital Program: 60% off New Textbook Prices

CSU Rent Digital LogoThe CSU’s Rent Digital program offers students the option to rent digital versions of textbooks (known as “e-textbooks”) at a cost savings of 60 percent or more compared to purchasing the new print textbook. Through CSU’s newly-signed agreements with Cengage Learning, CourseSmart, Follett, and Barnes & Noble, students will have access to thousands of popular e-textbooks at discounted prices.

The digital material will be available to students for the length of the academic term through laptops, desktops, tablets and other devices. It can be accessed online or offline, and includes interactive capabilities such as printing, note-taking and highlighting.

FACULTY: How To Select Your Rent Digital Textbooks

  1. Type in the subject area for your course in the search box to the right.
  2. Review the options available and choose the one that serves your needs and those of your students.
  3. Copy/Paste the information about the digital textbook provided (Title, author, ISBN, publisher, edition) into an email and send to your bookstore or the appropriate person/process who collects textbook orders.

New Digital Biology Textbook to Cost CSU Students Just $39

As part of a three-year partnership with Nature Publishing Group (NPG), publisher of the world’s leading scientific journal Nature, CSU faculty guided and advised the development of NPG’s Principles of Biology – the first in a series of interactive "born digital" textbooks. The text will be incorporated into courses for students at the Los Angeles, Northridge and Chico campuses starting in the 2011/2012 academic year.
